Family Work+Fun Day at the Salvation Army in Pottstown

An all-church, all-family event was held to pitch in and help the Family Shelter at the Salvation Army in Pottstown. This shelter does so much to aid families in tough circumstances to get back on their feet.  We did some maintenance, played some games and shared a meal of yummy barbeque!

The family shelter at the Salvation Army is a comforting and friendly environment providing transitional housing for needy families.  Like any home, time passes and walls need to be repainted and decor needs refreshing.  We were delighted to help out!

We painted two rooms and shopped for decorative and functional items to give a facelift to the rooms making them more comfortable and homey. In addition, we had some recreational time together with the residents playing games in the common room while getting acquainted. The day was crowned by a yummy barbeque grilled up by our own Bill Marchionne and his son on their barbeque rig they parked just outside the shelter. Smiles and great weather were both in abundance, as was God's presence in each person's personal efforts to touch the lives of our neighbors. Many thanks to everyone who contributed and/or participated. The folks at the Salvation Army really appreciated our efforts - read what they had to say!
